  • Designed for cargo box removal and storage in garages and workshops
  • One-person use with crank system, lifting cargo boxes on and off vehicles
  • Supports up to 220-lbs (100kg) when installed correctly
  • Also great for canoes, kayaks, surfboards, sailboards, ladders, etc.
  • Mounts quickly and easily to ceiling studs or rafters

  • Ideal solution for easy mounting and storage The Thule 571 is well suited to install and remove our 1800 cargo box on our Volvo wagon. Just pull the car in the garage under the box crank the box down to the load bars slide the rope off the ends of the box and tighten the box clamps to the load bars. One person can do the whole thing in a few minutes. Plus it's a great way to get the box up and out of the way when it's not in use.The mounting and installation directions leave a fair bit to creative interpretation. Our garage is open joists so I cut short sections of 2x4s to mount between the joists enabling me to anchor the pulleys and other support hardware where it needed to go. Plan on a few hours to get the whole thing mounted. But once it's up it's terrific. There's sufficient tension in the crank to hold an empty cargo box in place once you've cranked it to the desired position. Our package arrived with one essential part missing. The customer service folks at Thule happily sent me what I needed in the mail. It took a few phone calls to keep the nocharge order in the pipeline but after a few weeks I got what I needed.
If you build a frame it'll work fine Installed this system on a 2x4 'H' frame I built lag bolted to our 10 ft garage ceiling and it works fine. Our car top box now has a very practical storage resting above the garage door as it's opened by 5 or 6 inches Now we can easily mount our ski box just when we need it and use the drivethru car wash too.
Indispensable with a few annoying gliches This is an excellent way of storing a rooftop box. I have it mounted directly above the car in the garage so that even my wife can install a fullsize thule box on her own with no help. I actually keep the crossbars on the box to save time in installing and removing the box. It takes no useful space in the garage. The only annoyance are the lines which do not wind onto their reels uniformly causing the box to tilt as it is lifted. The way to avoid it is to lift the box very slowly and back up when you see the lines starting to overlap.
Works Good With Modifications and Additions Out of the box forget it. The screws provided are for concrete if using rafters buy 1/4 lag bolts and washers. I choose to build a 2x4 wood frame the proper size for the storaged unit. Putting 1/4 Hook screws into the rafters and eye bolts and Shooks on the frame they were connected with heavy chain. I mounted the hardware for the lift unit on the bottom of the frame. I read a complaint in the reviews about having to turn the hand crank to many turns. A 1/4 shackle and pin on a 1/2 x 36' Aluminum Rod and a 1/2 variable speed drill did the job just watch the speed. The rope was about 12 feet short of the loop reaching the floor so I added 12 feet of 1/4 rope the square knot went through the wheels OK.
Thule Lift Does the job for my Thule Atlantis 1600 Cargo Carrier Some Hints1 Instructions are abit light and in mm so convert to inches first then draw your installation design and measure on garage ceiling before beginning. Locate the studs. Remember they should be 16in on center look for the dimples. After you cut your wood dry fit everything on the ground to make sure it will work. This will save you alot of pain if you are a NOVICE. Mark everything and GO!!2 The kit comes with MASONARY screws so go buy WOOD screws both Phillips for pulleys and Flathead WOOD screws for the brackets.3 Get 2X4s or 1X4s to mount your hardware to. If you cut three spans at 52in and mount them with a 2in overhang and the 16in on center e.g. 16 32 and 48in intervals on the studs in your garage ceiling with screws you will have a strong brace for your pulleys and crank. I spaced my pulleys 37in by 37in for the 1600 and it worked great with a 12 ft garage height.4 Get two water pipe insulators 3/8in with selfadhesive strip pulltape and use it as cushion for the object you are storing. Goes right over the rope and it will reduces the friction and stress on the rope about $2.50 at Home Depot.
Great product but read the reviews for installation instructions I bought this recently to store our new Thule 1800 box. I installed it in a garage with drywall ceilings over 10 feet high. I used three fourfoot 2x4's to mount the pulleys and hoist mechanism. As recommended I used wood screws all around. Due to the beam spacing in the garage I mounted the pulleys with a spacing of 32. This was less than the recommended half of the length of the product to be stored. The rope turned out perfectly centered over the mounting points of the box with the rope going between the hooks that grab onto the roof rails. The box is not going anywhere .I installed the pulleys and hoist mechanism on the 2x4 sections before mounting the 2x4's to the ceiling. This made it much simpler than installing all the hardware on the ceiling. It was preceded by a lot of stud finding plan drawing and measuring but the results were perfect.I also followed a reviewer's suggestion of enclosing the load bearing portion of the rope with foam pipe insulation. That will definitely protect the rope from fraying and actually looks quite good.I have no reason not to rate this product 5 stars.
Not just for garages I don't have a garage. And I was tired of lugging my Atlantis 1600 up and down the stairs to and from the basement. Unlike other storage systems that require mounting to a flat ceiling the design of the Thule Box Lift allowed me to install it in the peak of my 8ft x 8ft shed. My cargo box now tucks up nicely into the peak of the shed. The bottom of the cargo box is essentially flush with the top of the shed door/walls so I can still access all areas of the shed. It took a little more work and thought but well worth it in the end. See the customer images section for pictures of my installation.
Does the job but could use improvement I bought the Thule 571 to store our Yakima 21 Skybox over the garage door. Installation wasn't difficult and I found the instructions adequate. A few issues though the supplied rope is not that long and I later figure out there is a reason for that. I have 10 foot ceilings and fully extended leaves the box about 5' from the ground. After replacing the rope with a longer one I found that the ropes overlap each other while spooling up on the bar at different rates and this causes the box to rise unevenly. In addition winding takes a long time when pulling the box up 10' since the windup bar is so thin.I made a slight modification to the lift to improve it a bit. I slid a 1/2 inch PVC pipe over the bar that winds up the rope and a 3/4 inch PVC pipe over the 1/2 inch pipe. This allows the rope to wind up over the larger pipe and causes the box to rise faster for each turn and just about eliminates the overlapping of the rope. I added a picture in the additional images section.Overall it's a good product but it could be better and it should be cheaper. The only reason they can charge this much for it is because there are other products out there like it.
OK but leaves a lot to be desired The product does what it says it does. ButThis is a Thule product not a cheap knockoff. This would suggest that it is a quality piece of equipment and that the instuctions are clear and easy to follow. Unfortunately that is not the case. The product is obviously designed with the European market in mind the English language instructions are markes as GB and all measurments are in metric which itself is no big deal but confirms that Thule is not understand its customers. European garages must be much smaller than garages in the US or Canada. Ours has a 10ft high ceiling. Forget it! The rope that is included in the package is so short that at its lowest setting the cargo box hangs a good 20 inches above the vehicle. Frankly rather than a nylon rope the product should be suspended by straps which would be more stable. And more importantly because of the ceiling height the crank shaft supplied is way too short.
Ceiling mount storage lift The ceiling storage lift works well. Went up easily because I have a wood ceiling in my garage. I use it for a 2 man fish house. I can back right under it with my truck and just lower it into the box of the truck. It takes a lot of hand cranking. The rope that comes with it isn't long enough for a 10' ceiling so I had to purchase more rope. Most garages being built now days have 9'6 to 10' ceilings so for the money this cost I would think they could send enough rope. Simple design but works great. People with sheetrock ceilings will need to put a board on the ceiling under the pullys.

  • Safety release mechanism
  • Extra storage in unused areas
  • 100-Pound weight capacity
  • Works on open rafters or finished ceilings
  • Single person operation

  • Dont forget the gloves! As with the other reviewers I agree with the comments. What is nice is that the assembly is easy. Mine was missing some screws but I used my own to put it into the ceiling as opposed to the joists. I too have 14' kayak to put up and I found it pretty hard to haul it up on my own. I wish this came with the straps as again I sourced my own and mine slipped a little. The image makes it look like you can pull it tight to the ceiling but with the weight it swung a few inches lower. This was a challenge with my garage door set up. By moving the strapping I can squeeze it in. I can see how with continual use the ropes will go quickly. The ropes often get off track and I agree that the pulleys should be larger to avoid this. My hands were raw hauling up and down on the two rope system it takes a while to figure it out. This is a good inexpensive hoist if you have a small boat and a safe place to store.
A great storage solution I needed to regain the floor space I lost when I stored my kayaks and this seemed like the best alternative. It pulls the kayak into the rafters our of the way and overhead. It was fairly easy to install. My only suggestion would be that they use SAE hardware. The metric bolts are long and you will need to use a drill/driver to torque them. They are larger than any of the standard sets that I have so I replaced them with SAE hardware. I didn't have the problem others described with the cords pulling unevenly. The cords are just like those found on a window shade or venetian blind. You need to pull both evenly but they are easily held together.
BAC PH150 Pulley Hoist I purchased this system to lift a 5 person paddle out of the water and store it hanging. The pulleys mounted very easily to the rafters of my boat slip. The paddle boat weighs about 120 lbs and is fairly easy to lift with these pulleys. With the 2 rope system you can lift one end seperate from the other to adjust for level or lift one end higher to clean and drain the boat. This works great. There is only one point where the quality could have been better and that is the rope. The rope used is on the low end of the quality spectrum. It works but I am sure I will be replacing it with a better rope very soon.
Works great for ladder storage I have 28 foot extension ladder that I use about twice a year and has been taking up precious space leaning against the garage wall. The ladder is too heavy and awkward to hang on wall hooks above head height so I bought the PH01 to hoist it to the ceiling. The hoist was easy to assemble and install and works as expected. I took off one star because the pulley flanges seem to be a little shallow and the rope can come off of the pulley if the assembly isn't mounted level and you pull the rope rapidly. This is a minor issue in my opinion since it is easily prevented by being careful to mount the pulley assemblies level. A key feature of this hoist is having independent control of the front and rear lift points through two separate ropes. I have some bike lifts with a single rope system and the bikes never want to raise evenly. Other reviewers have complained that it's too hard to raise the item they are hanging. This is not a problem with the hoist. It feels heavy because all of the weight of the item being lifted is concentrated through the rope and gives the perception that it is heavier than expected. Highly recommended.
This 2 rope pully is much better than 1 rope. The key feature is that this pully has two ropes to work with. That means you can you can control the descent/ascent of each end. Works perfectly for a long rowing shell. Unfortunately the picture does not show the two ropes very clearly. I find that alternating between the ropes works best for the descent. Also I tie a knot at the point where I don't want the boat to go any lower in case I let go of the rope altogether. Works well.
close but no cigar The pulley hoist is to be used to store a 14' kayak in my garage. It assembled well enough but when I tried to raise the kayak with a simple pull of the two ropes the ropes sliped off the pully jamming the mechanism. It does work but I have to carefully raise or lower the kayak one rope at a time. Ok but not as advertised. Product should have included a larger pulley to prevent this slipping problem.
NOT DESIGNED FOR CANOES Not designed for a canoe of any weight or size. our canoe was within the limits advertised It was almost impossible to raise the canoe after finally attaching it. The pullies are lightweight and the ropes will not stay in the slots on the pully.
Weak Materials I bought this to lift our canoe in the garage. The canoe is 65 pounds and is well under the 100 pound capacity. There is no way the product picture is correct. The moment I put any pressure on the hooks the material that attaches the hooks to the pulleys just twisted out of shape. There is no way I would trust this to hold a canoe above our cars. I relegated it to holding up a single aluminum ladder weighing in at 25 pounds just because taking it down and returning it would be a larger hassle.
Great for storing my kayak I have a 10 foot 40 lbs Old Town Dirigo and was looking to get it off my garage floor. I installed the BAC Industries Pulley Hoist under my second story deck and it is perfect. The pulley system installed easily choice of on a ceiling or on a joist and hoisting the kayak by myself was no problem.

  • Delta El Greco Ceiling Hoist I'm happy with how quickly the product was shipped how easy it was to put together and the ease of use. Long rope so that it can go high or be attached to a wall far from the hoist. I'd recommend this product.
Random hangings Great product. Simple & easy to use & installtook about 30 min to get installed and items hung from the garage ceiling.
Rocketbox finally out of the way it took a little while to get the hoist installed but that was because I hate being up on ladders so its not the fault of the product. Love having the huge rocketbox finally up and out of the way. It was tricky to hoist the box as one end would go up and the other wouldn't had to do it in small bits raising it by the rope then leveling the box then hoisting again repeating this until it was up.
hanging free The hoist was easy to install and works perfectly for our need to have the bike up off the floor giving us more space as we DO park our cars in the garage.
Lift awayeasy to use and install The Delta El Greco Ceiling Hoist was easy to install and simple to use. I installed two for my bikes and it works well. Was a great purchase at an outstanding price.
Helps organize garage I got this to raise my seldom used bike off the garage floor. It was fairly easy to install and works well.
Bikes up up and away A great way to store bikes up and out of the way. Easy to install. Be sure to use a cross joist board if hanging across joists.
Works great for kayaks Great solution for kayaks at a great price. Storing the kayaks near the garage ceiling frees up other space in the garage. It does take a little work to install and the cord could be a heavier quality but I can't complain for the price. You can always replace the cord when necessary.
good stuuf Very easy to install and operate. I use it for my bike and it does exactly what it supposed to do. Seems to be of good quality no problems. If I had more than one bike I'd buy another one. Obviously ceiling height is the most important thing to consider.
Solved my problem perfectly Simple effective and inexpensive solution to bicycle storage. Thinking about getting some to store other things from the ceiling. Met my expecations 100%.

Rack ok hardware that comes with it doesn't work Overall I'm not terribly impressed with this rack for a couple of reasons. 1 the directions are inaccurate as well as unclear 2 out of 16 nuts & bolts only 8 worked together 3 when the seller sent me more nuts & bolts in a kind customer service gesture they arrived in a factory sealed bag and upon opening them I tried them and not 1 nut/bolt combo would screw together farther than the very tip of the bolt! He should've saved himself the shipping cost. So it's off to Lowe's to get my own hardware and try to patch up this mess.

SpareHand Malibu Plus Kayak Storage Great Product

SpareHand Malibu Plus Dual Kayak Storage Rack Read more...

  • Freestanding kayak storage solution. Stores 2 kayaks.
  • Expandable to 4 kayak storage system with optional K-1 cradle (sold separately)

  • Indoor Storage Kayak Rack Fairly priced from Amazon and wellmade this SpareHand rack will hold up to 4 kayaks although it comes with hardware brackets for only two. If you have 3 or 4 kayaks you can get extra brackets from Amazon. The SpareHand Malibu Plus Dual Rack does the job nicely if you have room in your garage or on a covered porch. Note The literature says it is not for outdoor use and that must be true. Our garage flooded during Hurricane Irene and it has rusted badly. You should follow their restriction not buy this for outdoor use unless perhaps you live in Yuma or El Paso. Note that this model differs from several other SpareHand kayak racks in that the base has legs extending on 4 sides where other racks extend only on 2 sides. I could find no other differences by inspecting advertisements on line. The printed assembly instructions are outrageously bad and completely unsatisfactory but you can puzzle out assembling it without much trouble by looking at the advertisement pictures you will find on line at various sporting goods stores. Assembly takes about half an hour. I am fully satisfied with my rack. It is sturdy meets my needs and takes up minimal room.
Rack works well This storage rack works well. Both our kayaks are off the ground and there was enough room to store other items beneath them. The rack's footprint was larger than we expected but by putting the kayaks toward the wall we made it fit. Unlike other reviewers good directions and most parts arrived with it one screw missing.
Love it! Kayaks off the floor! Holds our 13' and 11.6' kayaks no problem. easy to assemble.
Another incomplete shipment The fact that this was shipped without instructions was no big deal. However it was also shipped without any of the screws needed for assembly. A call to Amazon was not helpful as they did not have the vendor phone number [It is 626 3388998 and you will probably need it]. You can also head to your local hardware store for some bolts which doesn't seem right for something that costs over $200. Bolts are Metric #6 sorry I don't have all the lengths required. I found the quality on the parts that were shipped to be just fair. Hope this save you an afternoon on the water rather than at the Home Depot.
Excellent Sotrage Solution I needed a decent storage solution for my Pungo 120. The wall space in my garage is already taken up by shelving & because I have young children I didn't want to suspend anything that heavy in the garage overhead in case it fell. This rack was the perfect solution. The directions weren't that great but it was very simple to assemble anyway about 20 min.. Since I only have one kayak I use the top brackets to hang my paddle PFD & other gear though I believe it would hold a second kayak with no problem. The feet are adjustable so it can be leveled on an uneven surface.
Great Product We are extremely happy that we bought this storage rack. It has helped to free up a good amount of space in our garage. Our two kayaks are 18' and 16.5' long and they fit just fine on the rack. It is sturdy and balanced. We also like that the support arms are cushioned and adjustable to whatever height desired. We only have two kayaks at this time but we bought the expandable model Malibu Plus as we will likely acquire other kayaks in the future. Besides the expandable model has a wider base and we figured that we could do with the additional stability.
Pretty good product This product arrived without assembly instructions but didn't take long to assemble after reviewing an online picturemaybe an hour or so. It holds our 65 and 75 pound kayaks with no problem. I've seen other racks that cost double and hold less so we're overall happy with our purchase and happy the kayaks are now off the garage floor.
GREAT PRODUCT! This kayak rack has been great. The instructions were easy to understand and my husband and I were able to assemble it in about half an hour. It's also constructed really well.
Not everything showed up Recieved my rack on Saturday 9/12/09 and tried to put it together. Things wer going great until I got to the cradles. Two of them had the clamps for the uprights built in. The other two it looks like the clamps are a seperate attachment an attachment that was not included in the shipment. Being that it was a weekend I was unable to contact anybody about this problem although they did get back to me on the next workday. After quite some time I was able to get my point across that the clamps were missing and was told that they would be shipped as soon as possible. Looks like another ten days before I can either upgrade or lower my rating of this item. Hopefully it will be going up as over all I like what I see.

  • Perfect!!! i have a small 9.5 foot kayak and a ford fusion without any roof racks. i bought the foam blocks and used them twice and just didnt feel comfortable with the blocks also they tended to dent my roof. i purchased this item and it was so easy to install. i drove about 20 miles highway to a lake with just the included straps around the kayak. it held up pretty good. there were times where the kayak would lift a little bit so i would recommend using a front and back tie down straps for the kayak which i just went out and bought but havent tried yet. All in all this is a great inexpensive alternative to an overly expensive permanent roof rack.
Surf Racks Very easy to use and store in the trunk. Can travel high rate of speed with two SUP boards with no problem.
Worked Great with Ford Fusion I will upload pictures. It took my husband less than 10 minutes to install this thing. It works great for trying to carry a roof top carrier without it being permanent damaging the car etc. It also stores nicely. If you can not afford a van have a family and need to haul gear this is your answer. The straps across the interior of the car do make me nervous with the kids and you have to tell them to NOT touch them but it is very worth it.
Great ideasolid and worked very well I'm only giving this 4 stars because the included pump that inflates the rack was hard to use and popped apart but I was still able to use it to inflate the rack. I bought this item and used it once then sold it on ebay. For me it was the alternative to renting a Van or paying for shipping for an 8seat poker table that would not fit in my small SUV.I had a 90 mile drive with the table strapped and tied to this rack and it remained rock solid for the duration of the trip. At one point I had to swerve to avoid some debris on the highway and that definitely gave me pause but neither the rack or the table attached to it moved. For occasional use this is a really smart solid alternative. It deflated easily for me and when I boxed it back up and sent it on its way to its new owner I think I was out a total of $20.
Very nice inflatable base substandard tie down strap The racks secure nicley to my vehicle my dissapointment is in the strap that ties in my case an 11' stand up paddle board down to the rack unit itself. I have to use motorcycle straps to rig it up to work at 60 mpg. The product would greatly benefit by beefing up the securing strap.
sweet as rack So I stumbled upon a SUP a few weeks back and needed a way to carry it to and from the beach. I have a 2005 civic and needed a soft rack. After many hours searching and reading reviews I decided to go with this rack. It works great. The reviews did it justice. I feel confident that the board isn't going to fly off the roof. I haven't tested it on the highway and to be honest would get another strap to lock it to the front and rear of the car just because my board is so long.It rack itself is easy to instal and dismantle. I like that it came with a carrier and when I'm not using it I can keep it all packed up in the trunk of my car ready for use at a moment's notice. And the best part is I can install it by myself in no time at all.The downside is there is a more road noise in the car because it breaks the seal of the door to the door frame. Also it rained a bit on the way to the beach the other day I took it out and unfortunately because the seal is broken between the door and car there was some leakage. Nothing too bad and only on one door which I thought was weird. I just threw a towel on the seat so the water hit that instead of the seat and all was right.
Awesome! 2 kayaks on Honda Civic. Just tried this thing out for the first time this weekend. I have a 2001 Honda Civic Sedan and two 12' sitontop Ocean Kayaks. They're also stackable which helps immensely. After I inflated the rack and secured it to my roof I stacked the two kayaks upside down on top of each other. Then I strapped the two kayaks securely together and then strapped them both to the heavy duty D Rings attached to the rack. Lastly I secured the bow and stern of the yaks to hooks that are found underneath the front and back of your car. If your car doesn't have these hooks then you need to find something else to secure them to. The front and back MUST be tied down. They must have improved the design because it happened to rain a little bit that day and not one drop leaked into my car.
Easy sturdy safe! I was surprised at how easy to install this rack was. I drive a compact car and needed a way to trasport my new paddle board without spending a ton more money and this system works perfectly.
The five rings not big enough to fit any cargo bag. I bought this because it is lower in price than buying the metal rack system. I bought it with the intentions of moving my things from college in New Mexico back to California a 700 mile trip one way. I bought a Highland cargo bag think that both systems will work together. Well the rings and straps from the cargo bag do not fit one is too big for the other. So I bought some lashings to attach them together. I had to rig both systems to work. Hence the 3 stars rating.I bought this system on price and after one test fit using lashing it works fine. So buyer beware ask questions to the sell about size and dimentions of the product before you make the purchase.
Great product with some cautions I read the Amazon reviews before buying this so I remembered to wipe down the car top before putting the racks on and was reminded ahead of time that the door seals will leak in rainstorms. A little topcoat scuffing and leakage are a small price to pay for such inexpensive but effective racks. The only other issue I've found has to do not with the HandiRacks but with your car. The rear roof of mine is sufficiently flexible that the rear HandiRack pops it in. I have a feeling when I take the racks off in another month or 2 the roof will be permanently deformed to some degree. Not sure that I'll care and I may be able to coax it back up into moreorless its proper shape but I just want to prepare you for the possibility. Keeping the compartments tightly inflated will distribute your cargo's weight more evenly and reduce the likelihood of deformation. Inflate the racks in the coolest part of the day or in the shade and they'll be maximally rigid in full sunlight/heat.

Gearup Away Deluxe Bike Hoist Gear Up Hoist exaclly what I needed

Gearup Up & Away Deluxe Bike Hoist
Gearup Up & Away Deluxe Bike Hoist Read more...

  • No-hassle mounting system
  • 2-rope system
  • Capacity rated at 120 lbs
  • Designed to operate on ceilings up to 12 height
  • Wall-mount, tie-off cleat included

  • Gear Up Hoist exaclly what I needed I needed to hang two kayaks in my garage. I previously used another brand hoist for my bikes but it was too flimsy for the kayaks. The Gear Up Deluxe set 120 lb limit was just right and a good price. I did substitute larger lag screws for the ones provided to secure the hoist brackets to the ceiling joists. For safety I also installed a homemade backup rope attachment to secure the kayaks when they are suspended at the ceiling. I would do that with any hoist system. I would recommend this set.
Buy this only if you need independent front/back control The Racor Hoist Monster and the Kettler Bicycle Lifter are the competition for this product. I have tried all of the hoists that I mention. The Racor and Kettler have one continuous rope that routs through all the pulleysso they have 41 mechanical advantage. This product has 2 independent ropes so it only has 21 mechanical advantage. YOU CANNOT LIFT 200 POUNDS WITH THIS PRODUCTwith only 21 mechanical advantage you have to be a strong person to lift 50 pounds. The advantage of this product is that you can control the front and back pulley independently. If you don't need this capability buy the Racor for $21 if you don't mind a bit of a cheap feeling product but it works fine or buy the Kettler for $50 if you want a super slick product that works beautifully and has the best locking mechanism.
Works well for my 14 foot kayak Installation was relatively simple hardest part was finding the studs in the ceiling to anchor to. My kayak is 14 feet long and probably weighs around 65 pounds. It takes a bit of pulling to get it going but I feel very secure in its ability to hold the weight. I'm ordering a second one for my other kayak an otter which only weighs in a 38 pounds.
Good despite a couple of flaws After finally getting this unit due to backorder problems this past summer it appears manufacturing is a bit rushed. The instructions for the drywall ceiling installation are incorrect in stating that a 3/8 bit should be used for the pilot hole. As the bolts themselves are 3/8 you'll have to be smarter than me or plan on a second set of holes. Also the first bolt I screwed into the ceiling snapped while tightening and I'm no Joe Weider. Lastly on one of the bolts the machining was just off such that I couldn't get the socket over the head and had to use a wrench. After finally getting the hoist installed the hooks straps cable and pulleys all work very well. But I'd suggest getting better hardware and remember to check your pilot hole drill bit first against your bolt.
200 lb Garage Hoist System It was listed as a 200 lb garage hoist system but the one I received stated on the box and instructions that it was actually a 100 lb system.
Heavy Duty Hoist Rack Beware of Amazon's Ad
Excellent! Looks like Amazon has changed the weight capacity from 200lbs to 120lbs. But I only use it to store my bike which is a lightweight so that's no problem for me.I installed this on the ceiling of my garage towards the back and it works great. I had no problem installing it and pulling and lowering the bike is easy. It works great for me. I have some lower beams and I installed hooks on those for my other bike but to store my bike high up the ceiling out of the way this just worked great. Good deal.

Seattle Sports Kayak Wall Cradles Looks awesome!

    Seattle Sports Kayak Wall Cradles
Seattle Sports Kayak Wall Cradles Read more...

  • Easy kayak storage
  • 24 by 14 inches (H x W)
  • Strong lightweight steel
  • Mounting lag bolts included
  • Easy to mount

  • Good Hangers Useless Hardware Overall the cradle bars themselves are very nice. They are sturdy and well padded so they won't scuff up your kayak. Once mounted everything looks great. However I will echo what a lot of other reviewers said the included hardware is awful. To call them lag bolts is a bit of a stretch. They really are just a set of cheap screws that strip VERY easily. If you do plan on using these I would definitely recommend predrilling and using a #3 phillips head bit. Otherwise it's worth a trip to a hardware store to get something a little better.
Worked just as advertised These hooks went in quite easily and they're doing a fine job of holding the kayak on the garage wall. They look nice too.
Does the job This rack is worth the price and does the job. One problem the 8 screws included are absolute junk and will stripout easily. Go buy 8 #12 screws and save yourself the aggravation.
Works but a great deal of hassle The Seattle Sports cradle worked for storing my boat but only after a bit of small hassles.I was trying to mount the Seattle Sports Cradles to the studs in my garage. First thing I noticed was how big these suckers are! They are a lot bigger in person than they appear in pictures. This was okay they have to be big to fit a large range of boats but it did cause me to reevaluate where I was going to place the cradles in the garage. I see now that they make folding models. I think I would have liked to get these instead. Hind sight is always 20/20. My biggest issue with the Seattle Sports Cradle is that in order to attach them to a typical wall stud with or without drywall you need to either angle the screws in and hope you hit enough of the stud to hold or you can offset the brackets and use only one screw on each bracket. I went with this option because I wanted to know that screw was completely in the board. This set up has held my boat just fine for a year now but I have to be careful when placing the boat in the rack or it bends the plates. My brackets are very wavy from being bent a few too many times.I am starting to look for another boat and have been looking at some of the other options. I like the cradles but might pick a better designed and folding model next time. I wont be a cheap weasel twice.
this company hates you ok so these hooks are fine the do what they are supposed to do. but the screws that come with them are like paper machete. the company knows this cause review after review states this but do they care? NO. or they would do something about it.i say don't buy anything from this company until they take responsibility for this. what should have been a very simple job turned into a huge headache and a long trip to the hardware store to spend even more money. BUY A DIFFERENT PRODUCT MADE BUY A DIFFERENT COMPANY.
Space saver Very pleased with these cradles for the price. Had no problem installing all supplied screws were fine and wide enough to hold our rather deep sit on top kayaks.
easy to install very easy to install. I installed this myself in my garage for a 14.5 foot kayak with no trouble.Good quality. would recommend.
Perfect! Space is pretty hard to come by in my garage . . . one of the reasons I put off getting a kayak for so many years. These solve the problem beautifully. I was completely out of wall space so I strapped these to the steel support columns in the middle of the garage using 4 hose clamps. The kayak is now out of the way but easy to access and my wife even commented that it looks like a professional installation unlike most of the other shelving and garage storage I've put up ha ha.
Looks awesome! First of all I love the way they holy my Kayak on the wall. It looks like it belongs there. The hooks themselves are padded and will not scuff up your kayak.Important to knowIf you end up mounting these to a concrete wall you will need to buy some different screws Tapcon screws and a drill bit for them to predrill the holes. Just take one of the hooks to your local hardware store and ask them for Tapcon screws that fit threw the holes on this particular hook. Tell them you need the drill bit too if you don't already have it. You'll obviously need a drill.
Just what I needed. just what I was looking for. Holds my wife's kayak up and out of the way. Easy to install. Good product for a reasonable price.

ProSource 125 Pound Garage Utility Storage Great Value

ProSource 125-Pound Heavy Duty Garage Utility Canoe and Kayak Storage Lift
  • Easy to install and use; supports up to 125 pounds
  • Safe locking mechanism prevents accidental release
  • Fully adjustable straps keep canoe secure
  • Sturdy rubber-coated hooks prevent scratching
  • Kayak/canoe storage lift designed for garages
  • It works but needs extra hardware for mounting For the price this is a perfectly fine way to hang stuff in the garage. We used it to hang a rooftop luggage carrier. The straps were just long enough to go around our carrier and it is holding it now above headheight and out of the way. Mounting it required a trip to the hardware store to buy a 2x4 lag screws and washers to attach the 2x4 to the studs in the ceiling and wood screws to attach the pulley's brackets to the 2x4. The instructions are pretty much useless as other reviewers have said. The tricky part is figuring out how to thread the ropes through the pulley system the photo that comes with the instructions actually shows the ropes going over the braking mechanism which is wrong. However if you look at the mechanism closely it's pretty easy to figure out how the ropes are supposed to go so that the braking bracket will press against them and hold them in place when there is weight on the pulleys. I have uploaded a picture that shows the pulley and ropes in action. Indeed the pulleys and the braking mechanism work just fine so that with the carrier hanging below the pulleys the brakes keep the ropes from slipping and the tieoff on the wall is not under much tension at all. The quality of the ropes isn't great but they're sufficient for the task it appears. It took us longer to install and hang the whole thing than we had anticipated due to the trip to the hardware store and a little confusion over the ropes. It also required a little extra attention when actually hoisting the carrier because the ropes slip off their tracks in the pulleys pretty easily. But it is now doing exactly what we purchased it for and seems like a perfectly fine product.
no instructions and bolts missing in 2 out of 3 boxes I bought This product seems stong but had no instructions and no mounting hardware in 2 of my 3 boxes.
Great Value I did considerable research looking for a product suitable for my purpose which was elevating my new kayak in a dedicated storage area. The item purchased through Amazon more than met all my expectations and was priced less than 1/2 what I found elsewhere. I found it significant that my purchase through Amazon was IDENTICAL in most if not all respects to the alternatives I found elsewhere which without exception were VERY significantly more expensive.
Good for the price We use this harness to hang our kayak above our car in the garage. So we obviously trust it's mechanisms. It's gotten stuck a few times but I'm not sure if that's usererror. One thing the thick straps are quite long so even when the hooks are at the top of the pulley system the kayak is hanging about 4 feet below. I thought about buying new straps from a vinyl company but I haven't made the effort. All in all it does what it's supposed to as long as you can handle it being 4 feet below your hanging mechanism. I haven't seen much wearandtear on the rope but we don't pull our kayak down frequently.
Ok for the price Per previous reviews instructions suck. A bit of experimentation worked out the rope routing and the rest can be rigged. Short 2 screws and some included that I have no clue what they are for. The biggest problem for me is that the straps are NOT adjustable they are sewn at one length. will figure out a way to shorten them but since the description says they are adjustable and that's why I ordered this particular model its a bit disappointing.
Kayak/Canoe storage lift Purchased this lift to store my 14' kayak in my garage. Delivery was very fast right to my door. Instructions were good and the installation was a snap. Just for additional information the bottom of my kayak sits 40 1/2 below the ceilingthe highest it will go.
Easy to install and works great. This is great product it is easy to install and it has a break so you only need one person to operate and can stop and go any time. One piece of warning. The straps that hold the kayak require about 20 inches of space. Adding to that the space requirements of the brakets your kayak will be about 3 feet from the ceiling. Make sure you have enough space. I had to shorten the staps and now have 6' 4'' to walk under the kayaks and park a minivan. It was cloose.
Not Quality The instructions are garbage. The grammar is completely incorrect as if it were translated from another language by a computer and unclear. You will have to just sit down and figure out how the system works and how it is mounted. The hardware included is insufficient to install the system. There were only 2 lags screws with my kit you'll need 4.On the positive side for $20 you can go to the hardware store buy more lag screws and figure out how it works.
Three things The only instruction you get for weaving the rope through the pulleys and lock is the picture you see of the product above which is wrong. I came across the following link that shows the correct way [] .The product description is a lie This premium quality hoist comes with fully adjustable straps so your kayak does not hang down like the cheaper inferior products on the market. No they're very long and not adjustable just like others have mentioned. The whole concept of just hanging from straps does not work well for my NuCanoe because the straps just slide off both ends of the canoe I'm forced to improvise. A hammock type sling would have been better.
It works but please read this before you buy I purchased this to store my tandem Hobie Mirage kayak in my garage. My kayak weighs about 70 pounds and it does require a good amount of effort to hoist it up. If you have a heavy kayak like me be prepared to get your muscles warmed up and roll up your sleeves when raising it.Like so many others reviewing this product I definitely agree that the instructions provided leave much to be desired. It comes with different screws and bolts that you will have no idea what they are for.

Easy to install and use; supports up to 125 pounds.Safe locking mechanism prevents accidental release.Fully adjustable straps keep canoe secure.Sturdy rubber-coated hooks prevent scratching.Kayak/canoe storage lift designed for garages. Store your kayak or canoe safely out of the way in your garage with this ProSource 125-pound canoe and kayak storage lift. This premium-quality hoist comes with sturdy rubber-coated hooks, fully adjustable straps, and a safe locking mechanism to prevent accidental release.
