Works great My 13 year old and I installed these quickly on our garage wall. Feels really sturdy. It is currently holding 2 of our kayaks plus lifejackets paddles other gear in kayak. Very happy.
Strong & Sturdy After reviewing the available products on the market I purchased these and found them to be sturdy yet easy to install in my garage. the hardest part was to find the studs to which I could mount these. I have been able to easily store two kayaks a 10' and a 10.5' and can take them out of the rack or restore them easily by myself. I also store the paddles and accessories in the kayaks when I am not using them. This has worked great and it is much easier than some of the hoist systems if you have room on a wall in your garage.
good space saver. good space saving product for the garage wall. needs a bit of creativity for mounting i recommend a wood block for spacing. Though the hanging strap is a bit tricky to keep from slipping out it's still a very good product.
Safe and Strong Storage We used to store our kayaks on our covered deck till last year. The Northeast got killed with snow and ice and our roof came crashing down on 4 of our kayaks. After digging them out and finding one damaged seat we decided to store them in our garage somehow. I went on Amazon and found these brackets. We were not disappointed we got them up within a 1/2 hour taping into the studs and pre drilling the holes. I park my Mustang and my husband Concours bike in the garage so I wanted something that was not going to damage the car or bike by falling off the wall. The kayaks have not moved. Each one of our kayaks weighs about 50 lbs. These brackets are strong heavy duty and will not let you down.
Perfect solution to my kayak storage issue I don't usually write reviews. This storage rack works great and does exactly what I needed it to. I'm using the rack to store my Pamlico 145 a two man kayak that weighs 65 plus pounds. The rack is sturdy and it has plenty of capacity to store oars etc without even using the additional straps. Now that I've used this rack I'd buy one again if the need arose.
Worked great. Kayak is up and out of the way. Mounted it in my garage and it's holding my kayak perfectly. I was glad to get it out of the way and on the wall. The JDocks are sturdy and minimalistic. The screws that they mount with are pretty large so you need a solid stud with the screw dead center in order to get a good mount. Also the stud may need some patching when you take the screws out. Overall I'd highly recommend these two anyone as a wall mount for one or two kayaks.
Malone JDock Solid system. Thanks for all the reviewers who steered me towards this product. Hardest part was indeed finding the studs. I am 225 Lbs I hung all my weight on them and they did not budge. Two yaks sit on them with paddles and I check for movement every now and then. No problems to date.
Must Have This item is heavy duty and if mounted correctly can hold A LOT.Big time space saver as well.
Very well made kayak shape will affect how secure it sits in These racks are very very well made. After lag screwing them in I am certain they could hold 10 kayaks let alone the two it is desgned to hold. They also look great. The price isn't bad either considering what even cheap and cheaply made hooks go for.I have mine mounted on a garage wall and it gets my kayak paddle vest up and out of the way. I have a malibu mini x which is 9'3 by 33.5. It is short wide and somewhat deep. I had to reposition the racks twice to get the malibu to sit right. The first time I had the racks to close and the depth of the kayak caused it to sit to far upright. Although it stayed there even the slightest forward motion had it tumbling forward out of the racks as the keel was so deep. Since it sits in front of my car I didn't think that would be good for the long term future of my hood. the long straps pictured didn't work as the kayaks taper was already starting and they would just slip off to the side and the yak would still fall forward.I repositioned them further apart. Since I was working with a 9 foot kayak and still needed to hit the 2x4's for the screws you can image there wasn't much room to go far apart. Doing so did somewhat eliminated the kayak's tendency to want to fall forward off the rack as the bottom can now slide a bit forward in the racks.
