Exactly what I was looking for Jeep top hoist First of all the item arrived quickly and in good shape. I am very happy with the purchase experience with this saler.Now on to the item itslef. I have to be honest I did not purchase this for a canoe or kayak. I am using it to hoist my jeep's hard top and it works great. I had been looking for such a hoist for a while and I found THIS EXACT SAME ONE at a Jeep parts site quadratec but they sell it more expensive AND as well as more for shipping. After reading and comparing the models I realized this is the same model just the instructions provided in the box are different. I just downloaded the instructions from the other site and installed it.Again this works great! perfect for my Jeep top I recommend it.
Works well easy to install This is my second purchase of the same hoist. It is perfect for a canoe or kayak. The first one holds a canoe on the roof of my garage. I bought a second one to hang a Rocket Box on the ceiling. Not a published application for the hoist but it worked perfectly. Installs easily and works flawlessly. The block and tackle make it very easy to hoist heavy objects.
Hobie 16 Pontoon Hoist If you are looking at this product you need to understand Harken stands for quality. I have used Harken pulleys and other rigging on my sail boats for years with no issues. I was a little hesitant because the price was a little high but I thought I would give it a shot. I ordered 2 hoists one for each pontoon of my boat. All the parts included were of typical harken quality high! I spent the most time trying to figure out the spacing and balance points to place the mounts on the ceiling. You definitely need to read the directions to make sure you get it right. You will need to purchase some additional supplies 2 2x6 boards washers and lag bolts for mounting the hardware to the ceiling. That said I am very pleased with the hoisting system. My 8 year old can hoist a Hobie pontoon with ease. The locking mechanism is solid and I have no worries about the hoist dropping its load. I am very satisfied with the product and the seller was great quick shipping no problems.
love it! We were looking for a solution for our tight garage space and found this to be perfect! We hang our kids' Escalade with this system and it is just perfect.
Nice system This system works well in a garage with limited space. Unlike many hoists this hoist will raise a kayak up against the garage ceiling. The hardware works smoothly. No chance the load will get away from you and fall because of a safety catch. It installed in about 2.5 hours. The hardest part of the installation was mapping the joists which wasn't really that hard.
good customer service When the Harken Hoister arrived it was missing pulleys and washers.
Works great tricky install When the hoist first arrived I opened the box to reveal LOTS of little parts pulleys and ropes. After attempting installation I discovered one part was missing. I contated the seller who contacted the manufacturer on my behalf and I had the part within a few days. After several attempts at raising the canoe to ceiling level to get out of the way of my garage door and having to adjust the ropes and the straps multiple times the hoise does finally work as described.
It works but it's a pain in my instance. Note that this doesn't come with the boards you need to install it. You can see them in the picture. One thing that the product description doesn't include is that it's specifically made for ceilings with flat ceilings. My garage has an arched one so I had to figure out a way how to install it on my own.Also my canoe would only lift about halfway up. I still don't have it working yet. There isn't enough space on the part that tightens up. So far I've put about 34 hours getting all of this installed and it's still not done yet. It does look like it'll do the job once I finally figure it all out.
